Welcome Back!

Welcome to Actif Epica! It’s a new year, a new winter, and soon, a new edition of Actif Epica. The backbone of Actif Epica is a 130km voyageur-style ultramarathon challenge. On February 16th, runners and cyclists will tackle the prairie winds on the Crow Wing Trail between St. Malo and Winnipeg. This year, we’ve added a 2-person relay (65km each) option for the ultramarathon that offers a full-scale challenge in a smaller package.

Alongside the ultramarathon are community-based “Co-Actif” events. These events come in all shapes and sizes: from community-sized formal celebrations like the Niverville Winter Family Fun Day to informal pick-up hockey games or family-sized sledding outings. Last year’s event featured 14 co-actif events with more than a thousand participants (wow!).

You’re invited to take part in Actif Epica – as a challenger in the ultramarathon, as an organizer or participant in a co-actif event, as an event volunteer or an event sponsor.

With fun, friends and active living, winter in Manitoba is a great time of year. Actif Epica celebrates our unique seasonal assets with diverse outdoor activities and an exciting ultramarathon challenge. See you out there!

  1. Looking forward to it. Ian, do you have any posters or other type of promotional materiel? I could probably get some put up on base here in Shilo. There’s probably even some ultramarathoners who’d like to run it or relay it. I can push to the Base Commander and the guy that looks after our personnel support services (including fitness facilitators).

  2. Yes Steve, we can get you some posters. Send me your contact info and I can send some your way. Some offer for others who have institutions/businesses/friends who might be persuaded to take part in the winter fun. Let us help you help us help you get the word out!

    • Ian,

      First, my contact info:

Second, there seems to be some errors with the downloads. The Cue Sheet download seems to be corrupt. The map of the route does not correspond to the stated start point in the race rules / description.
