Thanks to everyone who came out to the group ride and run! We had a great afternoon on the Crow Wing Trail. Cyclists participated on mountain bikes, fat bikes, cross bikes, and even one fat trike recumbent – and all seemed to manage the firm, windblown drifted sections just fine. There was a mix of running footwear out on the trail, too – should make for good conversation at today’s 3 p.m. Running Prep Gathering at City Park Runners.
A few news items:
1. Reminder that registration closes on February 7th at 4 p.m. Those registered by Wednesday, January 29 will receive a t-shirt designed by Circle Theft included with their entry. These are limited-edition t-shirts, and while we’ll have a few extra available for purchase, the sure way to get one is to register before January 29th (or volunteer – see #3 below…).
2. The “90% version” of the 2014 Course Map is now available. There may be some final, minor tweaks to this for the route through Winnipeg, but other than that, this will be the route we’ll challenge this year. Cue sheets and GPS files coming soon.
3. We’re extremely thankful for the volunteer help that has been offered. If you’ve signed up to help – THANK YOU! – you can expect an email this week from our lovely and talented volunteer coordinator with a confirmation of where your help would be most appreciated. We’re still looking for a few more helpers for checkpoints in/close to the city, for shifts in the afternoon or evening. If you’d like to be involved, please let us know!
4. Best wishes to all of the racers taking on the Arrowhead 135 on Monday. Stay warm and keep moving! We’ll look forward to welcoming those who completed the Tuscobia Winter Ultra, who succeed at Arrowhead and who are challenging the Order of the Hrimthurs to Actif Epica – the third race in the triple crown.
