Hey look! It’s Barefoot Bob!

We were stoked to catch Actif Epica alum “Barefoot” Bob Nicol on Global on Friday talking about going au natural, prepping for Tuscobia and sporting an Actif T-Shirt:

Bob Nicol

It’s a great little segment, and we know that Bob could have worn any T-shirt. He chose to wear ours. Thanks Bob, and best of luck with your training.

Watch the segment here.

PS: You can get your own cool shirt by registering or volunteering for Actif Epica 2015.

There’s a cold wind blowing

Can you feel winter’s cold whispers in the air?

If you’re like us, you know that can only mean one thing: time to start prepping for another great season of celebrating human resilience.

Early Bird Registration Now Open

medal croppedWe  quietly opened up registration yesterday, letting previous registrants in on the action throughout the evening. It’s amazing how quickly some of them responded! We already have a handful registered. Some expressing excitement at coming back, and some looking for revenge after last year’s brutal cold.

We’ve also heard talk in ultra circles that several people are going after The Order of The Hrimthurs this year. Last year’s conditions were tough at all three events that comprise The Order, and no one made it through for 2014. Here’s hoping that 2015 is different—at least for a few of you.

Whatever your motivation, if you register now, you can get in on early-bird pricing (until Dec 12).

Official Relay Options Coming in 2015

Last year, we experimented with a few relay variations. Based on their success (and lots of interest), we’ll be officially adding two relay options this year. We should have the details worked out in the next couple of weeks and will be opening up registration for them as soon as we can.

Award Winning

We are really proud to have received a 2014 Travel Manitoba Tourism Award two weeks ago. It really goes to show that we have an incredible group of volunteers who work tirelessly (and enthusiastically) to put on our little event each year. We really can’t do it without them, and we honestly can’t thank them enough.

It’s also a testament to the great feedback we’ve gotten from participants coming from outside Manitoba about how much they enjoy visiting. There’s something truly special about coming up the Crow Wing Trail and crossing through into the beauty and activity of Winnipeg and The Forks.

Help Wanted

Now that we’re in the thick of planning, we are looking for more people to help us put on the 2015 edition of Actif Epica. We have some interesting and exciting things planned, but we need extra person-power to pull them off. If you are interested in helping out, whether beforehand or on the day of the event, please take a minute to get in touch. Even if you can only help a little, we’ll find something great for you to do.

PS: Winnipeg is also hosting this little thing called the Canadian Cyclocross Nationals at the end of the month. You should check it out. We hear it’s going to be off the hook.

Actif Epica will "Blow You Away"

Adventurists Agree: Actif Epica will “Blow You Away”

Well, shucks.

Last season, Canadian Cyclist listed us in their 10 Big Rides in Canada feature. And now, we’re happy to be listed by Liftopia as one of 11 Adventure Races That’ll Blow You Away:

Have you participated in endurance races like Ragnar, Tough Mudder, and the Zombie Run… and you’re still left wanting more?

Compared to the following expedition-style events that test real adventure skills — orienteering, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering, trekking, kayaking, endurance (how’s a few hundred miles, for example?), etc. — the other races will find themselves begging for mercy.

We’re already getting into planning for 2015, and we’re looking for people to help us plan, organize and build. Want to join in? Contact us here.
